  33. The current state of these controls determine what happens
  34. when the mouse buttons are pressed in the image window.

  36. Notice the two different colors at the bottom of the panel.

  38.  *  Drawing with the left mouse button will use the primary
  39.     color which is on the left side.

  41.  *  Drawing with the right mouse button will use the secondary
  42.     color (on right side) instead of or in addition to the
  43.     primary color.

  46. Region Select
  47. -------------

  49. The mouse button is used to select a region to be used for a
  50. later operation such as copying to the clipboard, or processing
  51. only a region of an image.

  53. Usage: Place pointer in upper left corner of the desired 
  54. rectangular region.  Press the left mouse button and hold it 
  55. down while moving to the lower right corner.  Release the
  56. mouse button.

  62. First select the desired font, size, and optional border from
  63. the Text menu.  Next click on the "T" icon in the paint tool 
  64. box.  Move the pointer to the desired starting point in the
  65. image and click a mouse button.

  67. Left button: Solid primary color.
  68. Right button: Fade from primary to secondary color.
  69.  
  70. Start typing.  The Enter key can be used to start a new line.
  71. The Backspace key can be used to correct mistakes.

  73. Leave text entry mode by moving the pointer out of the image
  74. window.

  80. This is used to draw a straight line.
  81.  
  82. Move the pointer to one end of the desired line.
  83. Press and hold a mouse button while moving to the other end.
  84. A temporary rubber-banded line will be shown.
  85. When the button is released, the final line will be drawn with
  86. the currently selected width  (see below).

  88. The left button draws with the primary color.
  89. The right button draws with the secondary color.

  92. Paint Brush

  95. The primary color is used for the left button.
  96. The secondary color is used for the right button.

  98. The current line width determines brush size.

  101. Flood Fill (spilling paint can)
  102. ----------

  104. Left button: Click on a region with a solid color.  All
  105. connected pixels of this same color will be replaced by
  106. the primary color.

  108. Right button: Click inside a region bounded by the current
  109. secondary color.  All pixels inside this region, regardless
  110. of color, will be replaced by the primary color.

  113. Spray Can
  114. ---------
  115.  
  116. This gives an effect similar to using spray paint.
  117.  
  118. The spray width is about twice as the currently selected
  119. Line/Brush width.  Instead of solid color, like the paint
  120. brush, only a few of the dots are filled at random.

  122. The left and right buttons use the primary and secondary
  123. colors, respectively.

  126. Rectangle

  129. This is used to draw a hollow square or rectangle.

  131. Place the pointer at the upper left corner of the desired
  132. rectangle.  Hold a mouse button down while dragging to
  133. the lower right corner.

  135. Left button: Draw in primary color.
  136. Right button: Draw in secondary color.

  139. Filled Rectangle

  142. Similar to Rectangle, above, except you get a filled rectangle
  143. rather than a hollow shape.

  145. Left button: Primary color only.
  146. Right button: Filled with secondary color then outlined with
  147.         primary color and current line width.

  150. Ellipse

  153. Place the pointer in the upper left corner of the bounding
  154. rectangle for the desired ellipse.  Press one of the mouse
  155. buttons and drag to the lower right corner of the bounding
  156. box.

  158. Left button: Draw in primary color.
  159. Right button: Draw in secondary color.

  162. Filled Ellipse

  165. Similar to Ellipse, above, except you get a filled ellipse
  166. rather than a hollow shape.

  168. Left button: Primary color only.
  169. Right button: Filled with secondary color then outlined with
  170.         primary color and current line width.

  173. Camera

  176. This is the same as picking Digitize from the File menu.
  177. The actions performed are controlled by the DIGITIZE 
  178. command in the PKTV.CFG file.

  181. Eye Dropper
  182. -----------

  184. This is used to set the paint color from part of an existing
  185. image.

  187. 1. Select the Eye Dropper icon.
  188. 2. Click on the desired color in an image.  The Left mouse
  189.    button sets the primary color and the Right mouse button
  190.    sets the secondary color.

  193. Line / Brush Width
  194. ------------------

  196. Pick one of the widths by clicking on it.  This will be used
  197. for lines, the paint brush, the spray can, and outlines of 
  198. rectangles and ellipses.

  201. Color Palette
  202. -------------

  204. This is the group of rectangles of various colors between
  205. the tuning indicator and other paint tools.

  207. Click here to choose one of the pre-defined colors.

  209. Left mouse button: Set primary color.
  210. Right mouse button: Set secondary color.

  213. Undo
  214. ----
  215.  
  216. Clicking on most of the paint tools will make a copy of the
  217. current image.  This will allow you to undo a recent change by
  218. pressing the Esc key or picking Undo from the Edit menu.
