The current state of these controls determine what happens
when the mouse buttons are pressed in the image window.
Notice the two different colors at the bottom of the panel.
* Drawing with the left mouse button will use the primary
color which is on the left side.
* Drawing with the right mouse button will use the secondary
color (on right side) instead of or in addition to the
primary color.
Region Select
-------------
The mouse button is used to select a region to be used for a
later operation such as copying to the clipboard, or processing
only a region of an image.
Usage: Place pointer in upper left corner of the desired
rectangular region. Press the left mouse button and hold it
down while moving to the lower right corner. Release the
mouse button.
Text
----
First select the desired font, size, and optional border from
the Text menu. Next click on the "T" icon in the paint tool
box. Move the pointer to the desired starting point in the
image and click a mouse button.
Left button: Solid primary color.
Right button: Fade from primary to secondary color.
Start typing. The Enter key can be used to start a new line.
The Backspace key can be used to correct mistakes.
Leave text entry mode by moving the pointer out of the image
window.
Line
----
This is used to draw a straight line.
Move the pointer to one end of the desired line.
Press and hold a mouse button while moving to the other end.
A temporary rubber-banded line will be shown.
When the button is released, the final line will be drawn with
the currently selected width (see below).
The left button draws with the primary color.
The right button draws with the secondary color.
Paint Brush
-----------
The primary color is used for the left button.
The secondary color is used for the right button.
The current line width determines brush size.
Flood Fill (spilling paint can)
----------
Left button: Click on a region with a solid color. All
connected pixels of this same color will be replaced by
the primary color.
Right button: Click inside a region bounded by the current
secondary color. All pixels inside this region, regardless
of color, will be replaced by the primary color.
Spray Can
---------
This gives an effect similar to using spray paint.
The spray width is about twice as the currently selected
Line/Brush width. Instead of solid color, like the paint
brush, only a few of the dots are filled at random.
The left and right buttons use the primary and secondary
colors, respectively.
Rectangle
---------
This is used to draw a hollow square or rectangle.
Place the pointer at the upper left corner of the desired
rectangle. Hold a mouse button down while dragging to
the lower right corner.
Left button: Draw in primary color.
Right button: Draw in secondary color.
Filled Rectangle
----------------
Similar to Rectangle, above, except you get a filled rectangle
rather than a hollow shape.
Left button: Primary color only.
Right button: Filled with secondary color then outlined with
primary color and current line width.
Ellipse
-------
Place the pointer in the upper left corner of the bounding
rectangle for the desired ellipse. Press one of the mouse
buttons and drag to the lower right corner of the bounding
box.
Left button: Draw in primary color.
Right button: Draw in secondary color.
Filled Ellipse
--------------
Similar to Ellipse, above, except you get a filled ellipse
rather than a hollow shape.
Left button: Primary color only.
Right button: Filled with secondary color then outlined with
primary color and current line width.
Camera
------
This is the same as picking Digitize from the File menu.
The actions performed are controlled by the DIGITIZE
command in the PKTV.CFG file.
Eye Dropper
-----------
This is used to set the paint color from part of an existing
image.
1. Select the Eye Dropper icon.
2. Click on the desired color in an image. The Left mouse
button sets the primary color and the Right mouse button
sets the secondary color.
Line / Brush Width
------------------
Pick one of the widths by clicking on it. This will be used
for lines, the paint brush, the spray can, and outlines of
rectangles and ellipses.
Color Palette
-------------
This is the group of rectangles of various colors between
the tuning indicator and other paint tools.
Click here to choose one of the pre-defined colors.
Left mouse button: Set primary color.
Right mouse button: Set secondary color.
Undo
----
Clicking on most of the paint tools will make a copy of the
current image. This will allow you to undo a recent change by
pressing the Esc key or picking Undo from the Edit menu.
